This blog has been created to continue and expand our conversations which begin during the class. I will write (at least) weekly posts about issues raised during the class. You can also ask questions and I will post my answers, as well as provide some extra sources you can use to further your study. Class registration has already topped the sixty mark, so we will meet in the auditorium beginning next Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
I'm really looking forward to this challenging study.

Until we establish otherwise wouldn't it be biblically prudent to insist on silence from the non male gender?
ReplyDeleteI think we can speak as long as our heads are covered as mine is in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI like Wednesday's veil much better!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you raised the whole issue of modern "houses of worship" being set up as a parallel to the temple where from there we so easily misstep into the whole legal mindset (What a can of worms that is for all churches!). However assuming that today's building is primarily dedicated to God's eternal purpose it should go without saying that to do something to hinder His purpose would be tantamount to an insult (to Him). That could mean that if there truly is neither slave nor free, Jew nor Greek, male nor female--a community without barriers intentioned in the mind of God, any prohibitions should be carefully considered.
ReplyDeleteJesus stepped into it big time when he challenged that temple system (status quo) and the leaders who endorsed it. If he weren't who he knew himself to be, it could be said he had a death wish. WE look back 2000 years with incredulity at the travesty of the system's proponents (leaders and followers) but we fall into the same trap today because we go through life (like them) with our almighty agendas sans the ALMIGHTY Himself.
Isn't it funny (in a sad way) how we are on this mission for God but in essence we say to him, "we'll take it from here Lord" as if we're capable and competent to be on the field playing and he is relegated spectator status? I'll shut up now and hopefully some others will join in the fun.
Check out Loretta and Cory's excellent comments. This really is fun! I appreciate your thoughts, and unfortunately see myself at many times in my life as a minister "for" Him and yet not always listening to His voice and direction!
